All you really need for a slick couple’s session.

For the couples who book us for their wedding, we want ‘us’ (as in Nordica) to be an afterthought of sorts on the day of their wedding, which means getting them as comfortable as possible beforehand. These sessions tend to achieve that.

Which is why we offer complimentary “whatever-you-want-to-call-them” sessions to every couple who books us for their wedding.

The benefits should be blindingly obvious, so regurgitating why couples should work with their wedding photographer to make sure you book one isn’t really the point of this post.

The point of this post is more for us to shamelessly plug a few of the sessions we did last year as a point of reflection, and to get us stoked for this upcoming year and our first wedding of the year this Saturday.

YVR Airport in Vancouver probably wouldn’t be the first place you’d think of for an engagement session.

But when the weather is miserable outside, creative alternatives are warmly welcomed.

The “Vancouver International Airport (YVR) was crowned as the Best Airport in North America” in 2010 from the illustrious World Airport Awards committee in Brussels (from Miss604).

Seeing as it was absolutely pissing rain outside, this seemed like a good opportunity to take advantage of this great facilitiy, so we did an engagement session there.

When life hands you lemons…

Iona Beach is a park right beside YVR (Vancouver’s airport). It’s a spot we had never seen before the session, so finding this diamond in the rough was a pretty nice surprise.

The average local has never heard of Iona Beach. That’s a brass assertion, but everyone we ask about it hasn’t heard of it, so we’re drawing our own conclusions. We certainly hadn’t.

It’s located beside YVR (Vancouver International Airport). It’s a stellar spot for engagement photos.

This engagement session was photographed in an area of Vancouver called the Downtown Eastside.

The area is a bit on the ‘gritty’ side, which is what we were trying to convey with the pictures.

The couple is Kelly and Jordan. They will be getting married in February of 2012 in the Caribbean.
