All the boys in Jakob’s village shared an unanimous, mystical dream: The Americas. USA to be exact.

The idea that this faraway land of opportunity could re-shape a life the minute you step foot on it was so appealing to all the Finnish boys, Jakob made a vow that one day – One Day - he would find this land of freedom and good fortunes. Maybe even find an American gal. You know, settle down.

Well, would you believe it!

The once so distant dream is finally coming to fruition and Jakob will finally inhale the sweet smells of the mighty USA.

And to celebrate this dream come true, Jakob is looking to make the dreams of others a reality as well for his new American friends who live in the Seattle area.

So, Jakob and The Nordica machine are offering a very special, one day only photography opportunity on June 18th.

If you live in Seattle, we are offering our photography services for the very affordable rate of $200 per hour.

During that hour, we’ll do whatever you want.

Want a headshot? Done. Want couple photography? Let’s giver. Family portraits? Bring it on. Pictures of you and your car? Bam! No problem!

All files from the shoot will be delivered digitally in high-resolution, and you get the entire lot of photos from the photography session.

For the photography shoot, we all agreed that having her kids in the photo shoot would be much more fun, so they came along as well! Well, they didn’t just come along, they pretty much ran the show.

We met in New Westminster, and it was a beauty of a time eh. We’re just popping up these two for now as a wee teaser, and the rest’ll be up later in the week.

Oh yeah!

Here’s the video we created for the contest that Scarlett won. It pretty much explains what she won and how she did so, so have a wee gander if you have a couple minutes.

Real quick though, in case you missed the premise of the contest, to win all a mother needed was 1) A photo on Nordica’s Facebook Page and 2) To accumulate the most ‘Likes’ on that photo. Easy!

So, the winning mom with a very impressive 66 Likes is Sheryl Strongitharm. It seems like an online arsenal of friends and family supported her, and just like that she’s the winner.

Sheryl has won a TONI&GUY haircut and gift bag, professionally awesome makeup done by Melissa Leach and a photography shoot with Nordica Photography. Awesome eh!

However, the contest was a great success overall, and we thank all the friends and mothers who participated. We wish that everyone could have won, but tis life and the reality of contests. But thank you once again for ‘playing along’!

In case you missed what this contest is all about, it’s a dead-simple Mother’s Day contest that we’re doing through Nordica’s Facebook Page. How the contest works is you can nominate any mother you know to win the prize pack by simply uploading a picture of her on our Facebook wall. From there, the winner is decided by the total number of ‘Likes’ that mother’s photo gets. Simple eh?

The winning prize is a doozy if mini-makeovers get you excited. What the winner will receive is a bangin’ makeup job done by one of Vancouver’s best makeup artists – Melissa Leach, a free haircut done by Toni&Guy, a gift basket full of goodies from Toni&Guy and a photo shoot with the Nordica fellas’. Not bad!

So, at the time of making this post, the breakdown of entrants and ‘Likes’ is as follows:

Ironically enough, that’s exactly 100 Likes at the time of this post! It’d be sweet to see 100 more before Mother’s Day, but whose counting eh?

So, just to go over that again, any mother (so your friend if she’s a mom, your mom, it doesn’t matter) can win a haircut and $50 giftbasket from Toni & Guy, makeup done by Melissa Leach, and a photoshoot with us, Nordica Photography (all carried out in Vancouver).

To enter a mother, it’s very simple. Go to our Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/nordicaphotography) and upload a picture of the mother you’re entering. Remember that you can enter as many mothers as you wish, and we encourage you to tag the mothers you enter (so we know their names!).

Once the mother’s photo is up, ‘Like‘ her and get your friends to as well. The mother with the most ‘Likes‘ on her photo wins the prize package.

A short while ago, Marc Smith from Amuse Consulting got in contact with us about the celebration that was about to happen at the Sinclair Centre. Turns out this beauty of a building was having its 100 year anniversary (which is pretty ancient in Vancouver terms!) and they had some pretty special plans to get people in the building. Awesome stuff!

So we were asked to join in on the fun and have set up a small ‘retail space’ of sorts in the main foyer of the building (beside the food court). While this is something totally new to us, it’s kind of cool to mingle with people and have people come in and chat with us. So, if you haven’t much to do on your lunch break or whatnot, pop on it!

Ohhhhh yeah. One more thing. We’ve got some killer specials going on this week only as part of our being at the Sinclair Centre. We want to get some bodies in this great building to see how marvelous it is, so here are some specials we’re offering this week only.

Many moons ago, we had a Twitter contest where we gave our wedding photography services away for free. It was well-received and we had quite a few entries, and the winning couple was Holly and Phillip from Abbotsford. If you missed the contest, you can click here to learn more about how we did it.

Well folks, we did their wedding last weekend! It was a lovely wedding and the settings were gorgeous. A cool old church, an old school that was built in the early 1900′s and a gorgeous lake setting. It was great!

We have some more editing to do, so for today, we are just putting up this picture as a teaser. We’ll post’em when they’re done!

Remember that contest we’re having? Seems like it’d be easy to forget we’ve got so much other stuff going on, but there’s still time to enter it eh!

We’re pretty jacked up about the contest because as we’re writing this, there are 106 tags / entrants in the contest. We think that’s wicked-awesome. Also, we learned that we actually have ‘fans’ who aren’t our parents. That was a huge plus with this contest!

Darrell Morrison is a hell of an entrepreneur that we met through Twitter. He was extremely generous in helping Jakob move all of his stuff into his West End apartment, and gave up a lot of time, effort and fuel – his generosity certainly won’t be forgotten!

Anyways, enough coddling :) Darrell needed some pictures done as he is rebuilding his website for his plastering business. Basically, Darrell’s business is interior work on homes where he turns an ordinary wall into a work of art. He works with Italian materials and from what we learned, it’s absolutely gorgeous work. But, rather then us try to explain his work, check out his website! Even that’s wicked-awesome!

With that in mind, here are a few pictures you may see pop up on his site eventually. We took these on a rainy afternoon on Granville Island and, as mentioned, we are pumped about the results.
