Michelle is a dancer who has adagiod, allegrod, and arabesqued herself all over North America. She’s originally from Calgary but now calls LA home where she’s making a career of it in the big smoke!
She was in Vancouver recently auditioning for a role in Cirque Du Soleil, which as anyone can tell you, is not too shabby! We had done headshots for her back in the day, so while she was in the city, we agreed to do a little bit of a unique portrait session in Gastown.
So, we basically decided to get her to jump around as much as possible, and kind of improv some stuff in a few of our favourite allies around the hood. It’s pretty tough to say ‘Do this position!’ to a dancer because, well, we as photographers have no clue what we’re talking about when it comes to that. But, Michelle does eh! So she just wung it and we snapped away like maniacs.
In terms of capturing a unique portrait, this is something we’d like to do more of with dancers or anyone else who has a knack for bendiness. So, if you’re in Vancouver and are interested in cutting a rug in a few allies and getting some cool pictures, fire us over an email and we’ll make it happen!
Thanks again Michelle! You’ve raise the bar for anyone else who thinks they can jump around in alleys with Uggs on!
