Facebook Tagging Contest |Â Update

Remember that contest weâ€™re having? Seems like itâ€™d be easy to forget weâ€™ve got so much other stuff going on, but thereâ€™s still time to enter it eh!

Weâ€™re pretty jacked up about the contest because as weâ€™re writing this, there are 106 tags / entrants in the contest. We think thatâ€™s wicked-awesome. Also, we learned that we actually have â€˜fansâ€™ who arenâ€™t our parents. That was a huge plus with this contest!

Anyways, the contest goes on until April 1st, and if you forgot (or had no idea in the first place) what itâ€™s all about, hereâ€™s a recap.

What can you win?

A photography session with us where youâ€™ll get a boatload of pictures.
A website designed for you (including a custom URL, email address, the whole kitnkaboodle)
A super purdy new Twitter background designed for you.
Boom! Thatâ€™s it.

How do you win?

Go to our Facebook Fan Page (facebook.com/nordicaphotography) and find the pictures that look like the ones in this post. Thatâ€™s step one.
Once youâ€™ve found the pics, tag your heart out. You can tag yourself and any of your friends. The reason why is the winner can give the prize away as a gift if they want. So if you have 10,000 friends you want to tag, then go nuts. They can win it for you.
On April 1st, weâ€™ll draw the winning tag at random.
Boom! Thatâ€™s it.

So, if a photo shoot, website and Twitter background gets you all hot and bothered, then tag-tag-tag! Thereâ€™s still a few days left!

Darrell Morrison | Social Media Photography

It’s a pretty cool feeling when you produce something that turns out way cooler than expected. This was one of those instances.

Darrell Morrison is a hell of an entrepreneur that we met through Twitter. He was extremely generous in helping Jakob move all of his stuff into his West End apartment, and gave up a lot of time, effort and fuel – his generosity certainly won’t be forgotten!

Anyways, enough coddling :) Darrell needed some pictures done as he is rebuilding his website for his plastering business. Basically, Darrell’s business is interior work on homes where he turns an ordinary wall into a work of art. He works with Italian materials and from what we learned, it’s absolutely gorgeous work. But, rather then us try to explain his work, check out his website! Even that’s wicked-awesome!

With that in mind, here are a few pictures you may see pop up on his site eventually. We took these on a rainy afternoon on Granville Island and, as mentioned, we are pumped about the results.

We’re having a contest folks! Because we’re bloody huge fans of giving away free schwag eh!

So, we’ve been scratching our heads here for a while, pondering this internal dilemma: How can we create awareness that we do social media photography, we create websites and Twitter backgrounds, and we have a Facebook Fan page that (we feel) is worthy poking around on once in a blue moon?

Then we came up with this lil’diddy: A Facebook contest where all you need to do is tag yourself (or a friend) in a picture and you can win a brand spanking new website, a photoshoot with two photographers and fancy new Twitter background.

Boom! Simple! Love it! Huge fan!

So that’s what we’ve got cooking right now at Nordica Photography. The short explanation is below, but if you want to read the more detailed version of the contest (and you should!), please click here.

The Short Explanation:

What is it: This is a Facebook-based contest put on by Nordica Photography.

What can you win: A premium Social Media Photography package. This includes a photography session, a new website and a new Twitter background ($1000 value).

How to enter: You tag yourself in a picture on the Nordica Photography Facebook Fan Page. Your friends can also be tagged in the picture and win the prize on your behalf (in order to be able to tag, you must become a fan).

How the winner chosen: Anyone who is tagged in the picture will be entered into the random draw. The winning name can give the prize to whoever they choose at that point.

When does it close: April 1st at noon Vancouver time. The winner is announced later that day.

So that’s our fancy Facebook contest. We hope that it gets a decent response and, more importantly, the winner is someone who can really benefit from having a new website. It’d be really great if the winner was someone who needed great photos and a professional internet presense, so if you know someone who would benefit from winning this great prize, go to the Fan Page on Facebook and tag your heart out!

Her real name is Teri-Lyn Conrad, but Twitter aficianados may better recognize her as @TLCHOME . Teri-Lyn is a real-estate agent from the Fraser Valley who is definitely Web Savvy. She’s on Twitter, Facebook, and wherever else you might pop up on the ol’Google Box, which is sort of why she contacted us.

In a nutshell, Teri-Lyn wanted to jazz up both her headshots and her Twitter background so we were a perfect match for eachother! We did the shoot in Gastown, and this was the results of our time together.

Meet Gabe Krahn. Gabe wanted to get headshots done, but was in a rush so we had to make it a quick shoot. We went out for a walk in Gastown and got a few pictures of him. Enjoy.

Jamie Molz is a looker eh! She’s actually a participant in the upcoming Miss Canada competition in Toronto, so she’s definitely more then just a stunningly good-looking lass.

Anyways, she needed a couple of pictures for the upcoming competition, so she contacted us and away we went. We went for a nice walk around the Seawall and came up with these pics.

A funny thing happened afterwards as well though. When we were finished the shoot with Jamie, local photographer Alex Firmani had recognized us (we’re not sure how but hey that’s cool!) and took this picture. So, thanks Alex for the pic and for knowing what our ugly mugs looked like eh!

This is Kim Dudra. She contacted us through our beloved Twitter after we made a small comment on the cool background image she was using in her profile. It was of an awesome graffiti wall in the downtown area that was unfortunately painted over with a gross wall of blue paint. Unfortunate, but letâ€™s not get sidetracked here eh.

So through that little exchange, we agreed to do a photo shoot with her with the goal being to produce some pictures she could use for headshots and – of more relevance – for her social media presence. Great! Weâ€™re all over it!

So the look we agreed upon was sort of gritty, sort of tough, sort of edgy, but a lot of professionalism in the photos. Quite a few things to squeeze in eh! But, we loved the challenge and were thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with such a lovely lady. It was a smooth shoot – aside from some â€˜interestingâ€™ folks who (aggressively) wanted to be a part of the shoot as well. I guess thatâ€™s what you get when you hang out in alleyâ€™s eh!

Anyways, enough babbling, here you go. The portrait shoot with Kim.
