We got together at Bear Creek Park in Surrey on a beautifully sunny day, and the goal for the outing was some gorgeous headshots. So, as we do for all of our headshot sessions, we managed to get well more then only one.

For today, here is one photo that we particularily liked. The rest will be up next week.

Anyways, we did her photo shoot this afternoon in a few of Vancouver’s finest skuzzy allies just off of Granville Street. We’ll pop this wee teaser up for today and stay tuned for more pics and the results of her website soon!

Marc (from Amuse the event planner of all event planners) is getting the early arrivals organized and Madame Bollwitt is meandering about getting things looking good. And these kind folks in the picture below are the kick-ass duo from Mojave – they’ll be playing from time to time tonight!

On our end of things, we’ll put a few pictures in right now as an ‘intro post’, and after this we’ll just post pictures and shut our traps (meaning no text). On Thursday the 15th, we will be doing some volunteer event photography at an excellent and important global event: Twestival.

In a nutshell, Twestival (which stands for Twitter Festival) is a fundraising event that is global and uses Twitter as the catalyst to raise money for Concern Worldwide. This is a description of Concern Worldwide in their own words:

Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries.

The Twestival event is pretty incredible though due to the participation globally and based on the effectiveness and willingness to give on behalf of the global Twitter community. But the organizers themselves can probably describe it better then us, so here you go in their own words:

On Thursday 25 March 2010, people in hundreds of cities around the world will come together offline to rally around the important cause of Education by hosting local events to have fun and create awareness.  Twestival™ (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good.  All of the local events are organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.  If you would like to get involved, please Register your City, Register your School, or Volunteer and we will get in touch.  Organizers will be given a handbook and invitation to our collaboration workspace.  Follow @twestival for updates.

Nordica Photography was asked to participate and do photography for the evening, and we didn’t hesitate to volunteer. Marc Smith and Rebecca Bollwitt were kind enough to ask us to get involved, so we thank them for thinking of us! We even threw in a Social Media Package that will be up for auction, so hopefully that helps raise some money for this wonderful event.

So, on Thursday if you aren’t coming to Twestival or you are partipating in Dining Out For Life (which is another excellent event for a great cause that just so happens to be going on the same night), then you can follow our site as we’ll be posting pictures from the event.

Alternatively, follow the hashtag #yvrtwestival (or the Vancouver’s Twestival handle which is @YVRtwestival) as there’s going to be a lot of Twitter action going on throughout the evening!

Darrell Morrison is a hell of an entrepreneur that we met through Twitter. He was extremely generous in helping Jakob move all of his stuff into his West End apartment, and gave up a lot of time, effort and fuel – his generosity certainly won’t be forgotten!

Anyways, enough coddling :) Darrell needed some pictures done as he is rebuilding his website for his plastering business. Basically, Darrell’s business is interior work on homes where he turns an ordinary wall into a work of art. He works with Italian materials and from what we learned, it’s absolutely gorgeous work. But, rather then us try to explain his work, check out his website! Even that’s wicked-awesome!

With that in mind, here are a few pictures you may see pop up on his site eventually. We took these on a rainy afternoon on Granville Island and, as mentioned, we are pumped about the results.

Anyways, she needed a couple of pictures for the upcoming competition, so she contacted us and away we went. We went for a nice walk around the Seawall and came up with these pics.

A funny thing happened afterwards as well though. When we were finished the shoot with Jamie, local photographer Alex Firmani had recognized us (we’re not sure how but hey that’s cool!) and took this picture. So, thanks Alex for the pic and for knowing what our ugly mugs looked like eh!

This is Kim Dudra. She contacted us through our beloved Twitter after we made a small comment on the cool background image she was using in her profile. It was of an awesome graffiti wall in the downtown area that was unfortunately painted over with a gross wall of blue paint. Unfortunate, but let’s not get sidetracked here eh.

So through that little exchange, we agreed to do a photo shoot with her with the goal being to produce some pictures she could use for headshots and – of more relevance – for her social media presence. Great! We’re all over it!

So the look we agreed upon was sort of gritty, sort of tough, sort of edgy, but a lot of professionalism in the photos. Quite a few things to squeeze in eh! But, we loved the challenge and were thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with such a lovely lady. It was a smooth shoot – aside from some ‘interesting’ folks who (aggressively) wanted to be a part of the shoot as well. I guess that’s what you get when you hang out in alley’s eh!
