Our square matte-finish albums are made by a company called Vision Art, and we can’t say enough good things about them. The quality of their albums is the best we have found, and their customer service is fantastic. We’re huge fans.

These are a couple of recent albums. We’ve got a few more coming in from Texas soon (where Vision Arts are based), and we’re stoked to see them.

Booking weddings with couples who Google you from a faraway land seems to entail a leap of faith. Concluding that the photographers aren’t crazy, and shoring up that they’re actually the people they portray on the blog is the order of the day.

We really liked Ryan’s approach to confirming we weren’t crazies when he rang us up from Toronto.

It felt like we were being grilled over a speakerphone by Michael Douglas in Wall Street (the 1987 version, not the shitty sequel). A couple of months later we met Ryan for the first time and wouldn’t you know it, he had the same vibe going on as Mr. Douglas in person as well. An admirable confidence, we’ll call it, and a mean head of hair.

Anyways, the point is that we admire couples who book us without a meeting in person. The trust factor is huge, and it’s awesome when couples have the confidence in us to do this.

High-five’s all around Sarah and Ryan, and gargantuan levels of congratulations on a great wedding at Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden and Rosewood Hotel Georgia, downtown Vancouver.

Main Street is a ballin’ little area in Vancouver that’s full of wicked stores, old school buildings, the trendiest of trendy things, and of course all the cool kids. The hipsters.

Jen and Oisin looked rock solid in their cool vintage attires, so we figured going to Main Street with them would be a spot-on fit. And it was.

High-five Jen, high-five Oisin, and congrats on a slick wedding.

We’ve had a whirlwind couple of months. Which isn’t that surprising, it is the high season after all.

What has really struck us lately, though, is the kaleidoscope of cultures we’ve been exposed to.

Serbians drinking plum moonshine, Henna ceremonies, Celtic acoustics courtesy of a Gaelic speaking groom, Icelanders getting married beside glaciers, Iranians marrying Canadians, Sikhs recreating Bollywood movies, same-sex elopements in shady allies and Americans getting married in a Mexican jungle.

If one thing is for certain, fans of multiculturalism would enjoy their lives as wedding photographers. We definitely are.

So, we’re about mid-way through the madness of summer with a few dozen more weddings upcoming, and 2012 starting to fill up with both local and international weddings. We’re not sure what cultures are going to come our way next, but we’re up for anything.

We feel pretty fortunate having the chance to learn more about global wedding traditions while at work.

Many months ago, Jill and Ryan contacted us to line up a couple session for June 21st. We’re talking last November they emailed us, and the session had to be on June 21st.

It’s their anniversary, you see, and they’re doing photos every year on their big day.

We think that’s awesome, and good on these two for doing this. It’d be cool to see how their pictures evolve over their many years of marriage together.

This session was done in our favourite Vancouver neighbourhood for photography, East Vancouver.

After spending an hour in Stanley Park with Katie and Ben, we concluded that they are pretty much the perfect couple. Successful, good looking and super nice people. And a perfect match for each other.

They’ll be getting married in Vancouver this summer.

Many moons ago, we had a Twitter contest where we gave our wedding photography services away for free. It was well-received and we had quite a few entries, and the winning couple was Holly and Phillip from Abbotsford. If you missed the contest, you can click here to learn more about how we did it.

Well folks, we did their wedding last weekend! It was a lovely wedding and the settings were gorgeous. A cool old church, an old school that was built in the early 1900′s and a gorgeous lake setting. It was great!

We have some more editing to do, so for today, we are just putting up this picture as a teaser. We’ll post’em when they’re done!

Up until April 15th, 2010, if an engaged couple chooses to book us to do their wedding photography, we will include a free engagement shoot that is valued at $500.

So, here’s a bit of food for thought about engagement shoots.

What is an engagement shoot?

In a nutshell, an engagement shoot is about two hours of photography at an outdoor location with the bride, the groom and the two of us taking your pictures. We will decide prior where you would like to do the shoot, and then we just giver.

Why are engagement shoots a good thing?

Well, the first reason is we prefer to meet couples before their weddings, and taking pictures is a great excuse to do just that! Engagement shoots allow for everyone to get comfortable with one another, and this is especially true for the bride and groom. So, you get comfortable with us and how we work (which only benefits your wedding day photos) and we get to meet you and show you what we can do. It’s a win-win.

What do you receive from an engagement shoot?

You will receive a private, password protected online gallery with all of your photos in high-resolution format. These are 100% yours to do with as you please. The average number of photos is around 50 or so from engagement shoots.
