PICK OF THE WEEKNine

May 8, 2011

They say cloudy days are good for photography. A cloud is like a huge softbox for the sun, making the light fall nice and even on the subject. And they’re right. It does.

But cloudy days can be pretty darn boring too. Nice, but boring.

For the portrait session on Kathie and Jamie’s wedding day, we found an old barn in a field. And all we did was pop them in front of a window in the barn, and instead of the even clouded light outside, all of the sudden we had way more interesting light.

Simple, yet a pretty dramatic effect.
