Pick of the week // Three

Sometimes a photograph is great, not only because of what you see in the frame, but because of the memories it brings back.

I like this picture from Hannah and Mike’s wedding, not because it’s the best photo technically, but because it was a pretty funny moment.

At a first glance, it may look like any other pose. Hannah and Mike standing a bit apart with Hannah’s veil beautifully blowing in the wind.

But it’s not.

One of our goals with the photojournalistic wedding photography that we do is to keep it honest. Keep it real. But the one time of the day when we can get a little extra creative and have some fun, is during the portraits with the bride and groom.

As you can see in the photo, Mike is laughing pretty hard in the background. He’s doing that because on Hannah’s left, Cole is running like a madman in a suit, trying to get out of the frame. Cole just threw Hannah’s veil as far up in the air as he could, and then with a very advanced ninja move he’s doing his best to get out of the way.

Needless to say, it looked pretty funny.

I like that memory.
