Bodega Ridge Wedding // Anna & Wade
Bodega Ridge Wedding
Any Western Canadian photographer will agree that a Bodega Ridge wedding is a treat. Jesse and his team at Bodega are the absolute best and treat everyone with perfect hospitality.
Our first wedding there was Stacey and Reese’s wedding many years ago. That feels like so long ago and it was one of the first weddings at Bodega, and even then, you just knew that Bodega would turn into a desirable venue. It’s only improved with age, and we absolutely love visiting this Gulf Island treasure.
Anna & Wade
Anna and Wade’s story is rooted being an active couple. They’re based on the West Coast and clearly have an outdoors-loving lifestyle, so choosing to bring their friends and family to Galiano Island felt like a great fit.
Although, Anna’s parents had a lot to say on the location (in a fun way) as they own a beautiful vineyard on Vancouver Island. The wine as well received during the dinner and into the reception.
Geoff Lister
This was the second wedding we’ve had Geoff Lister join along for the adventure. The first time was last year in Iceland for Alicja and Arnþór’s Snæfellsnes wedding. Geoff’s talents and work ethic are completely insane, and we can’t praise his professionalism enough. He’s a beauty!
Galiano Island
Big thanks to Anna and Wade for having us part of their legendary wedding on Galiano Island. Fingers crossed we’re lucky enough to return for another Bodega Ridge wedding but until then, we’re super grateful to have been a part of yours! Here’s their story!
Bodega Ridge on Galiano Island
Bodega Ridge sits on the spine of Galiano Island, one of the Southern Gulf Islands between Vancouver Island and the BC mainland. The venue occupies a ridge that looks out over the Trincomali Channel, with views of the neighbouring islands and the mountains of Vancouver Island in the distance. The property includes restored heritage cabins, gardens, and open meadows that create a self-contained wedding environment where guests stay on site and the celebration unfolds over the entire weekend. For couples who want their wedding to feel like a retreat rather than a single event, Bodega Ridge is one of the best options on the West Coast.
The ceremony took place outdoors with the ridge as the backdrop, and the reception moved into the evening with dinner under string lights. The natural beauty of the property meant that very little decoration was needed. The wildflowers, the fir trees, and the views across the channel provided all the visual richness the day required.
Getting to Galiano requires a ferry from Tsawwassen or Swartz Bay, and that crossing is part of the experience. The Gulf Islands have a pace of life that slows down the moment you step off the boat, and by the time guests arrive at Bodega Ridge they have already left the city behind. Anna and Wade chose this location because it matched who they are: active, outdoors-focused, and drawn to places with genuine character. The island itself is home to old-growth forest, sandstone shoreline, and quiet roads that are perfect for exploring by bike.
Planning a Gulf Islands Wedding
The Southern Gulf Islands offer several excellent wedding venues, but Bodega Ridge stands out for its combination of accommodation, views, and atmosphere. Summer weddings on Galiano benefit from long, warm evenings and a golden light that lingers well past dinner. The key logistical consideration is the ferry schedule, which requires some advance planning for guests. Beyond that, the island provides a relaxed and beautiful setting that consistently produces weddings with a genuine West Coast feel. If you are considering a destination wedding in British Columbia, Galiano Island is well worth a visit.
