Helin and Martin’s destination wedding at Son Marroig on Mallorca’s northwest coast was a day of Mediterranean warmth, historic architecture, and mountain views that stretched to the horizon. Son Marroig is one of the most celebrated wedding venues on the island, and having photographed there we understand why it has earned that reputation. The estate sits high above the sea on the road between Valldemossa and Deà, and the terrace where ceremonies take place looks directly out over the Mediterranean with a small neoclassical temple framing the view.

Son Marroig Estate

Son Marroig is a former residence of Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria, who fell in love with Mallorca’s Tramuntana coast in the 19th century. The estate retains the character of that era: stone terraces, Mediterranean gardens, and interiors filled with period furniture and local art. For a wedding, the property offers several distinct spaces. The ceremony terrace with its iconic temple and sea views is the centrepiece, but the gardens, the courtyard, and the interior rooms all provide settings that photograph beautifully. The Tramuntana Coast

The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range runs along the entire northwest coast of Mallorca and is a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. Helin and Martin’s portraits used the estate grounds and the surrounding landscape, and the late afternoon light along the Tramuntana coast gave the images a golden Mediterranean warmth. A Cultural Combo

Helin and Martin’s wedding is the type of destination wedding that we love. Location aside, it was the cultural infusion that made their story so exciting. The wedding brought together Kurdish and Swedish traditions, and with only their closest friends and families present, it made for a crazy-beautiful story.

Son Marroig is a beautiful venue, as you’ll see in the story below, and they made for a seamless and incredible experience for everyone. But the icing on the cake was working with the lead planner Sara Klinkenberg.
