THE NORTH OF MALLORCAMonika & Łukasz

I met Monika and Łukasz the way I meet most couples: as near strangers, minutes before the first frame. A day like this fixes that quickly. We built it around the north of Mallorca, the quieter end of the island, and planned the whole thing around the light.

It started in the dark at the Talaia d’Albercutx, the old stone watchtower on the ridge above Cap de Formentor. You climb the last stretch on foot, and from the top you can see both bays at once. The sky went pink before the sun ever showed.

From the tower we dropped down to La Victoria, on the peninsula outside Alcúdia: pines, pale rock, clear water, and hardly anyone on it.

The evening belonged to the hills near the Ermita de Betlem, a hermitage in the Artà mountains that looks back across the whole Bay of Alcúdia. The grass went gold, the sun went into the sea, and nobody was in a hurry.
