SÖDERHAMN & SKÄRSÅElin & Joakim
Elin and Joakim eloped on the same stretch of Swedish coast where Therese and I host elopements, at our cabin, Hop Farm Beach.
This is home ground for me. My family spends its summers a few minutes from Skärså, and our place on this coast is now open to couples who want a day like the one below: married quietly, the whole thing to themselves, nobody watching. There is more on how Hop Farm Beach works at the end, but first, Elin and Joakim: a morning in Söderhamn and an afternoon out at Skärså.
Söderhamn
We started in the middle of town, on the crossings and in front of the old landmark with the green spire.
Söderhamn is a small town on the Hälsingland coast, built around a harbour and quiet on a summer morning. We walked the streets, stopped for a few frames in front of the old landmark in the centre, and found a wooden chapel and a shaded park with white pavilions. Elin carried a bright coral bouquet, the one bit of colour against the grey stone. Nobody paid us much attention, which is how you want it.

Skärså
Then out to Skärså, a working fishing village of red boathouses, ropes and net floats, right on the water.
Skärså is the next village along the coast, a proper little harbour that still smells of the sea. I photographed Elin among the hanging net floats and inside one of the old boathouses, then out on the rocks where the red sheds meet the Baltic. Their spaniel came along for the whole day and turns up in most of the farm frames. There was a vintage moped for the lanes, a wide-brimmed hat, and a long run of portraits against a barn wall in the afternoon sun. It was hot and bright, and we used all of it.

Hop Farm Beach
Skärså sits a few minutes from our own place on this coast, Hop Farm Beach.
Hop Farm Beach is a cabin Therese and I open up for elopements, on a private stretch of this same coast near Söderhamn, forest on one side and the Baltic on the other. Book it and the whole place is yours: the cabin, the beach, the sauna, two nights to settle in, and me to plan the day and photograph it. No guest list, no schedule, no audience.

Söderhamn and Skärså are a few hours north of Stockholm, and most people outside Hälsingland have never heard of them, which suits eloping quietly. If you are planning to elope in Sweden, or anywhere on the Nordic coast, I would love to show you around. You can see how the cabin works over at Hop Farm Beach, and if you already know your dates you can book them here. Either way, come and find me.
