TRE CIME TO CORTINAKim & Denim

June 5, 2026

Kim and Denim eloped in the Dolomites, and the mountains never fully showed. The day began at Tre Cime, where the three towers stayed inside a cloud the whole time we were up there. It happens more often than the postcards admit. You cannot book a view, and here is what I have learned about that: the weather changes nothing that matters. The story is still theirs, cloud or not.

On the drive back down we came around a bend to a line of horses standing at the roadside, so we stopped. Nobody plans that, and it turned into one of the best stretches of the day.

Lago di Braies came next, for the boathouse, the fallen tree in the shallows, and the little chapel in the woods.

Then Prato Piazza, a high open plateau that is one of my favourite corners of these mountains, and it gets a fraction of the visitors the famous spots do.

The day ended above Cortina, and then in the middle of it, in the evening.

Everything here is black and white, straight out of camera. The camera saves a JPEG, I hand it over as it is, and that is the photo. Kim and Denim had their photographs the same day, before dinner. This is the session I want to be doing more of: a whole day exploring with a couple, and the pictures in their hands by the evening.

If a day like this in the Dolomites sounds like yours, get in touch. For the mountains themselves, the guide covers where and when.
