Ireland Wedding Photographer // Anita & Martin

Anita and Martin’s destination wedding in Fenit, County Kerry was our first time photographing on the Emerald Isle, and it set the bar high for every Irish wedding that followed. Fenit is a small coastal village on the northern shore of Tralee Bay, looking out across the water toward the mountains of the Dingle Peninsula. The landscape is green, windswept, and unmistakably Irish, and it provided a backdrop that was both dramatic and deeply personal to the couple.

Fenit, County Kerry

Kerry is known as one of the most beautiful counties in Ireland, and the coastline around Fenit demonstrates why. The village sits on a spit of land that reaches into Tralee Bay, with a harbour, a lighthouse accessible by causeway, and views that change constantly with the weather. The light in western Ireland moves quickly, and on a single day the sky can shift from bright sun to moody cloud to golden warmth in the space of an hour. As an Ireland wedding photographer, this unpredictability is part of what makes the country so rewarding to work in. Every image is shaped by the moment, and the landscape never looks the same twice.

Anita and Martin’s celebration was infused with Irish culture: the music, the hospitality, and the warmth of the community all contributed to a wedding that felt rooted in the place. The reception had the energy that Irish weddings are famous for, and the evening went late in the way that only happens when people are genuinely enjoying themselves.

Destination Weddings in Ireland

Ireland offers a range of wedding locations from country estates to coastal villages, and the west coast in particular provides landscapes that are dramatic without being harsh. Counties Kerry, Clare, and Galway all have venues with ocean views, historic character, and the kind of natural beauty that makes elaborate decoration unnecessary. For couples considering a destination wedding in Ireland, the combination of accessible flights from mainland Europe, welcoming communities, and extraordinary scenery makes it a strong choice. Ireland Wedding Photographer

This was our first experience on the Emerald Isle as we donned our Ireland wedding photographer hats. It was extra special as it was for an incredible wedding photographer – Martin Cahill – and his amazing partner Anita. We’ve photographed the weddings of other wedding photographers in the past, and each time it’s an honour to be alongside a peer on their big day.

A few times in our years, we’ve been thrown into a true representation of a locations culture. Erika and Romain’s Swedish wedding comes to mind, as does Amber and Bryan’s ranch engagement session. To be encapsulated in a culture and feel how it feels to actually be from there is something else.

Enter Anita and Martin’s wedding, where it felt over the top Irish. We feel so fortunate for having been there for this very Celtic experience with such an incredible vibe of family and friends.

Celtic Charm

The wedding was hosted on the western tip of Ireland in Fenit. The windswept grasslands and endless views made for one of the most exciting backdrops we can remember. The beaches were awe-inspiring in their beauty, and overall that part of Ireland was like nothing we’d ever seen.

And, of course, the Guinness.

As you’ll see in the story below, the wedding found it’s way to a perfectly quaint pub where traditional music filled the night air. That pub experience was incredibly authentic, and most definitely a highlight of the day.

Elsewhere

Martin and Anita’s wedding is featured on Want That Wedding.

In that feature, Anita and Martin shared this small tidbit from their day:

The nature of the day was probably captured best by one of the local fisherman who dropped into the bar for a quiet pint and to hear the band. Five hours and many more pints later, he asked to take a piece of wedding cake home because he didn’t think his wife would believe for a moment that he had been at a wedding.

Also worth highlighting with this wedding is Jim Pollard. Endless thanks for assisting and being there for the adventure.
