Lake Como Wedding Photographer
Jenny and Oscar chose Villa Lario on the western shore of Lake Como for their destination wedding, and it was one of the most striking settings we have photographed in Italy. Lake Como sits in the foothills of the Alps in Lombardy, with steep mountainsides dropping directly into the water and historic villas lining the shore. The lake has been a destination for centuries, and the combination of Italian architecture, alpine scenery, and the reflective surface of the water creates a backdrop that is almost impossibly photogenic.
Villa Lario
Villa Lario is a boutique property with gardens that step down to the lake’s edge. The ceremony took place outdoors with the lake and the mountains of the eastern shore visible behind the couple. The gardens are mature and well maintained, with stone pathways, old trees, and terraced areas that provide natural variety for portraits without ever leaving the property. As a Lake Como wedding photographer, the challenge is not finding beautiful locations but choosing between them. Villa Lario solved that problem by containing so many different settings within a single, cohesive space.
The reception moved indoors as the evening light turned golden across the lake. The villa’s interior has the character of a private Italian home rather than a commercial venue, which gave the dinner a warmth and intimacy that suited Jenny and Oscar’s celebration perfectly. The toasts, the dancing, and the quiet moments between all happened within a setting that felt personal rather than staged.
Destination Weddings on Lake Como
Lake Como is approximately one hour north of Milan, making it easily accessible for international guests. The lake offers dozens of villa venues along its shores, each with its own character and capacity. For couples considering a destination wedding in Italy, Como provides a different experience to Puglia, Tuscany, or the Amalfi Coast: the alpine influence gives the landscape a drama and a coolness that feels distinctly northern Italian. We envy every Lake Como wedding photographer who calls this insane part of the world their office. With stunning venues, such as Villa Lario, dotting the emerald waters, it’s just crazy at every turn.
Maybe that could be said for Italy in general, come to think of it.
Salina has taken our breath away, as has Cinque Terre, Lombardy and the Aeolian Islands to name a few spots. We definitely have a soft spot for Italy, and love returning there.

Fast forward then to Jenny and Oscar’s wedding. Think 007 Venetian boats and exotic pool parties. This wedding was utter class, and we loved every minute of it.
We asked Jenny and Oscar to share a few words about their day, and here’s what they shared.
Words By Jenny and Oscar
Having grown up in New Zealand, we both love being near the water so Lake Como was the perfect setting for a relaxed, fun and personal celebration with our closest friends and family.
We wanted our wedding to reflect us, taking the traditional elements of a wedding, but making it our own – Jenny walked down the aisle with both of her parents, we wrote our own script for the ceremony and each member of the brida3l party gave a speech.
Our wedding day ended up being more than what we had hoped for – our guests arrived by Venetian boats followed by Jenny arriving by speed boat in true 007-style. We then finished the day partying until 1.30am and finally ended our day jumping in the villa’s infinity pool at 3am – it was a truly spectacular day.
We loved every second of it!
So we give you their story from the shores of Lake Como, Italy. Enjoy!
