That's what the cards said that Sarah and Rich sent out to their family and friends the morning they left for Vancouver Island. For months, they had secretly been planning a Tofino elopement, without telling anyone. Not their closest friends, not even their parents.

Lauren and Stacey - two top ladies with a viciously refreshing sense of humour between them - are from Melbourne, Australia and flew a very long way to Vancouver to get married. And it wasn't just them: Both of their families, along with many friends, came as well. If you put this in perspective, it's difficult to find longer trips on earth to travel for a wedding.

Iceland Wedding Photographer // Becky & Ymir
When we arrived at Keflavik airport in Iceland, this quickly changed, and blogs and strategies stopped mattering. As did most other things. Because from the moment we got off of the plane until we returned four days later, we were consumed but a colossal amount of energy and effort that was totally drive by Rebecca, Ymir, and their families.

Couple's often ask us about general ideas and thoughts for their weddings. And our answer is pretty much always the same. We're definitely no experts on weddings per se, but we've been to a few by now, and there's one thing we've picked up on: The more real you keep it, the better.
Don't put in a big effort just to be someone you're not for a day.

West Vancouver Wedding // Jenny & Joel
Wedding cliches stretch far and wide, and you really notice this at the reception speeches.
Ever heard the "joke" where whoever is giving the speech has the groom put his hand atop the brides on the table and says something along the lines of "and that's the last time you'll have the upper hand in this relationship"? This little skit must have a high ranking on Google for "wedding speech jokes".
Another one is when the newly-weds have been together for a very long time. The whole "it's about time", "what took you so long", "'bout time you made it official" hullaballoo is an easy angle for cracking a few jokes. We've heard it at quite a few weddings by now.
But not at Jenny and Joel's.

Document You // Amber & Bryan
Up until now we've been offering engagement sessions as a part of our wedding photography packages. Engagement sessions are very popular in Vancouver, as well as pretty much anywhere in North America, and the idea is to get photos done together before you're getting married.
That's all fine and dandy, and we dig the idea of doing a photo shoot before the wedding. It's an awesome way for us to get to know couples and it's a great way for couples to get an additional set of photos, as well as to get comfortable with us.
Win-win-win.

Cancun Wedding Photographer // Alejandra & Pepe
A few of months ago I flew down to Xcaret, just outside Cancun in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico, to shoot a wedding with one of the most talented wedding photographers in the world. Senor Fer Juaristi.
A couple of days later I returned to Vancouver, having shot a wedding with not only one of the most talented wedding photographers in the world, but also one of the most genuinely nice people I've ever met.

Sikh Wedding Vancouver // Susan & Jag
Susan and Jag didn't want the typical, traditional indian wedding photos. They wanted something else, something different, which is why they got in touch with us in the first place.
We had never done a Sikh wedding before, so our fresh vision was exactly what they were looking for.
